3rd Annual Lexie’s Legacy Concert/CD Lineup

The concert and CD lineup for this year’s Lexie’s Legacy Memorial Concert and we are very excited!

On Friday August 20th we will be rocking at Sky City starting at 9PM (doors open at with some great area bands - Carey Murdock (of NoStar), Bleeding Counterfeit, 48 Volt, Science Friction, and G-City Rockers. All for only $5 but in addition to the great live music attendees will also get a great CD of music and in the process contribute to our goal our reaching full endowment status for the scholarship fund at Augusta State University!

The CD will feature great tunes by Grady Nickel, Bleeding Counterfeit, Dear Enemy, Vagabond Missionaries, Willie & the Hand Factory, Science Friction, My Instant Lunch, False Flag, The Radar Cinema, G-City Rockers, 48Volt, L.i.E., Will McCranie, NoStar, People Who Must, and Tommy OD & the Survivors!

So make sure you make it out August 20th to Sky City!

Lexie’s Legacy Memorial Concert III / CD Release Show Date Confirmed

The date and place for this year’s Lexie’s Legacy Memorial Concert has been set in stone and the third annual edition of this event will take place August 20th, once again at Sky City in downtown Augusta. This year we will officially add the Very Lexie CD release to the Memorial concert making it one great big night featuring live music from artists on the CD.

Keep an eye out at lexieslegacy.org as we add dates for the rest of the “tour” season which will run from the memorial concert until Rocking the Stocking in December.

We’ve had a great response so far with people sending in recipes for the Lexie’s Legacy cookbook which is do to be put out later this year just in time for Christmas! Just looking through the recipes we’ve received so far has been a mouth-watering experience! Surely no one with good taste will be disappointed. But we still have room for more! Yeah that’s right - we plan on packing as many recipes in as possible! So why not hit us up with an email and send us a recipe or two to be included. All ya gotta do is:

Make sure you donate a recipe that doesn’t require anybody hunting down an ingredient that is impossible to find! That’s it! Oh yeah…and follow this simple outline when sending in:

Still accepting Tracks for A Very Lexie CD!!! Vol. II

Last year’s release of “A Very Lexie CD!!!” featured a mega-ton of great Augusta artists and before it was all said and done, we were sold out and Augustan’s all over the U.S. were grooving to all of the great tracks and remembering one of Alexis’ fave things - music.

This year Lexie’s Legacy will add a second volume which will be released at the Third Annual Memorial Lexie’s Legacy Concert in August. But for that to happen, we still need tracks from more Augusta bands to fill up the disc.

Bands wishing to add an unreleased track to this year’s CD can do so by contact John “Stoney” Cannon (aka Alexis’ Daddy) by email at info@lokalloudness.com or by phone at 706.836.5683.

Fun in the Sun

All of us here at Lexie’s Legacy want to thank everyone who came out for yesterday’s Lexie’s Legacy 5K which was held downtown at Riverwalk. The weather was great and our walkers/runners made great times in not only helping the Lexie’s cause, but also in getting across the finish line!

Bloodfest XV a Huge Success!

The return of Bloodfest was a HUGE success with lines around the corner from Sky City well before the doors were open! Thanks to great music by Artemia, Suns Collide, L.i.E., dieAgnostic, and Alexis’ fave Augusta band Jemani, as well as a packed house, fun was had by all and the event netted the most funds for any event raising funds for Lexie’s Legacy to date!

Extra special thanks to Mark Greubel and the guys in dieAgnostic for choosing Lexie’s Legacy as the charity organization for this year’s return event!

Sign Up Now for Lexie’s Legacy 5k!

The inaugural Lexie’s Legacy 5K Walk/Run will be held November 14th at Riverwalk Augusta. Starting at the Jessye Norman Ampitheater, participants will run or walk 3.1 miles to raise funds for the Lexie’s Legacy Scholarship at Augusta State University. Participation cost is only $10 up to November 5th and $20 afterwards. Children 6-12 years of age and senior citizens $8. This also includes a special event only Lexie’s Legacy 5K t-shirt as well as admission into the afterparty right after the event. Sign-in time will be at 2PM followed by the event itself.

2009 a Little Slower But Moving Along

This years fall fundraising events have started off slow but we have had a blast taking part in them! The Lexie’s Legacy concert was a great name and raised a great chunk for the scholarship! While the poker run may have turned out to be a bust we had fun at this year’s Acoutipalooza and even raised a few more bucks for the cause. Now we are looking at three more events this year to try and pull in some more dough to get us closer to full endowment status.

Bloodfest XV - October 24th @ Sky City will feature five great bands at an event that is returning for its fifteenth time! Ticket’s are $8 in advance and $10. at the door. This is looking like it could be a great fundraiser with a portion of the proceeds going to the scholarship.

The Lexie’s Legacy 5K @ Riverwalk Augusta will be an afternoon walk/run on the Savannah River on a cool fall afternoon followed by a fun afterparty at Sky City. All one has to do to attend this event is pay $10! The donation also includes a special Walk/Run t-shirt!

Rocking the Stocking XV @ Sky City continues our yearly tradition in honor of Kevin Scott Brown, another loved one we lost too early. This will feature many Augusta musicians singing in front of a one-night only house band!

So you see, a lot going on and as always we look forward to seeing all of our friends at each and every event.

Proceeds from Annual Concert to Benefit Lexie’s Legacy

This Saturday October 24th marks the return of annual Halloween metal institution Bloodfest and this will not only be a rocking great time, but a portion of the proceeds will benefit Lexie’s Legacy! Bands featured at this 15th edition of the event include Artemia, Jemani, L.i.E., Suns Collide, and the long awaited reunion of dieAgnostic!

Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 night of the show. Advance tickets can be purchased at Sky City or online at http://www.lokalloudness.com by going to the Weekly Spotlight thread.
