The Year That Was 2008

First let me just say for my wife Jeannie and I, Happy New Year to all of our friends and family.  You have done so much to help us through this past year and we are so appreciative.  We might not…no!…we WOULD not be where we are today without all of your love and support.  2008 was a tough year, and that’s putting it mildly.  We lost John C. Cannon December 5, 2007, Alexis April 6, 2008, and my father John L. Cannon on December 23rd.  But through all the pain and darkness, light has managed to sneak in thanks to the hearts of many many people and that light has turned into the Lexie’s Legacy Scholarship Fund.

What started with the Confederation of Loudness show in mid-April and continued on to Rocking the Stocking in December has proved to be quite an interesting journey indeed.  Just when we thought that perhaps everyone might begin to tire of hearing about Lexie’s Legacy all of the time, now bookers and musicians are asking to put on shows to help raise funds for the scholarship.

Who could ask for a better community than the one right here in Augusta, Georgia?

Along the way we met Meshondra Collins, the first ever recipient of the Lexie’s Legacy Scholarship and attended her pinning ceremony in December.  There couldn’t have been a more perfect recipient if God had picked one himself.  Hmmm…may he did pick Meshondra.  With a little help from Alexis!

We rocked with some great bands, chilled over coffee, had dinner with friends, auctioned some cool stuff off and we did it together.  As proud as Jeannie and I (as well as Alexi’s Grandma Ginny) are of Lexie’s Legacy, all of Augusta should be as well.  It has become a part of all of us as all of us have become a part of Lexie’s Legacy.  The spirit is as shining as Alexis’ beauty and we thank you all!

Love and God Bless,

Alexis Daddy
